Maj Gen Eric Mukasa the former Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Chief of Staff Land Forces has also died, this was confirmed by UPDF deputy spokesperson, Lt. Col. Deo Akiiki, this morning.

Brig. Richard Karemire, the UPDF spokesperson said Gen Mukasa died on Thursday morning at Nakasero Hospital, Kampala.

“We have lost yet another gallant general officer,” said Gen Karemire adding that Maj Gen Mukasa was sick for some time.

Maj Gen Mukasa’s death comes just hours after the death of Brigadier General, Victor Maregano Twesigye, Uganda’s Defence liaison officer at EAC headquarters in Arusha Tanzania.

The army says Brig Twesigye died on Thursday morning from his home in Nyarushanje Kisiizi Rukungiri after he slid in the bathroom and died instantly.

This very week another UPDF general, Brig. Gen Jackson Bell Tushabe also died.

In June, another Gen, Maverick Maj. Gen. (rtd) Kasirye Ggwanga, died. Like Tushabe, Ggwanga also died at Nakasero hospital on June 9.

Ggwanga, 68, died after a successful operation to remove a blood clot in one of the vessels in his head. Earlier, he had been admitted at Mbuya military hospital
